Rockstar Promises More As Red Dead Online Gets More Solo Missions (2)

Red Dead Online: Blood Money update finally lets us steal stuff

In-game of course

Red Dead Online has been regularly updated since launch, with new, themed content drops arriving every so often. While GTA: Online still seems to be the big focus for developer Rockstar, Red Dead Online continues to grow. Its latest update, Blood Money, is a big step in the right direction for Red Dead Online, finally bringing coordinated robberies to multiplayer.

Blood Money introduces a new activity called, well, Crimes. If you’ve played single-player you’ll know a thing or two about robbing stuff in Red Dead, and the popular Wild West pastime is coming to Online. What’s different here is that you’ll be able to complete these activities either in solo or with a full multiplayer posse. Solo Crimes will deliver an experience not too dissimilar to the single-player campaign, but full posse robberies presents a different proposition entirely.

Rockstar’s newswire article states that these Crimes will range from “cloak-and-dagger coach holdups to multi-stage robberies,” and you’ll be netting rewards in the process. You’re not the only one that’s after some bonds, though. If you accumulate enough for quest-giver Guido Martelli, another activity called Opportunities will appear. These are all about disrupting the political balance in Red Dead Online, with one Opportunity available at launch and two more to come.

Are the robberies dynamic?

One big question we have heading into Blood Money: how dynamic will robberies be? Past updates have provided us with sets of missions, but we’re hoping robberies are a more “on the fly” activity. While Rockstar is yet to spell it out either way, some of the wording in their blog post is promising.

Red Dead Blood Money

“As you traverse the plains in Free Roam, you may hear of unlocked Homesteads and vulnerable Camps,” sounds like a more dynamic way at tackling objectives in Blood Money. Thankfully, Crimes won’t require any investment either, so we won’t need to pay any gold upfront to get in on the action.

The Red Dead Online: Blood Money update launches July 13 on PC. Alongside the release, Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive a DLSS update for Nvidia RTX cards.
