Valve has announced that the new client for Steam is available now.
Things to look out for on the slightly-new-look digital download service include:
– The ability to track which of your Steam friends play the various games in your vast library, and an info box on the store page listing what your friends have bought or played recently.
– A central, aggregated news page and individual game news pages, accessible through the games library.
– Finally, a tool to organise that gigantic list of games into useful custom categories such as “games impulsively bought just because they were cheap” and “games with hair in them.”
A full list of changes can be read here. Or you could just open up Steam, let it update and poke around for yourself.
