Riot Games Valorant Summer Game Fest

This has indeed been a strange year when it comes to gaming news. Rather than having big reveals at conventions, the current pandemic has everyone glued to their stream watching digital-only events unfold. It’s certainly made everything a little more accessible, and that will continue as we head into summer. Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest will be a big part of that, and if you are a fan of Riot Games’ Valorant, you might want to pay attention.

Riot will join the Summer Game Fest stream on Thursday, May 21, at 11:00 a.m. ET/ 8:00 a.m PT. There, it will share more news about the team’s new first-person shooter.

Sharing the love

While Keighley’s announcement doesn’t exactly give anything away, fans certainly have some information they’d like to hear about. For one, an official release date for the game would be very welcome. Riot has previously stated that Valorant will get a full launch this summer, and perhaps Summer Game Fest is the perfect platform to announce the date.

Alternatively, many fans have been eager to jump into the closed beta, but the keys are limited. The easiest yet also tedious way of getting access is through a drop while watching Twitch streams of Valorant. Perhaps Riot has plans for a new way to get more players into their game.

The game is also currently a PC-only title. With the success of fellow shooters on consoles, we could also see Valorant make a jump to multiple platforms. This might also herald in cross-play to boost the playerbase even more in the coming months.

Of course, all of these possibilities are just speculation. We’ll all need to tune in tomorrow to see what Riot actually has in store for us.

Even in its closed beta stage, Valorant has been killing it in terms of the hype and excitement, especially on Twitch. Granted, many are watching to get a key drop, but the numbers are still staggering. Million of hours viewed of Valorant gameplay in April alone is nothing to scoff at. Here’s hoping that the announcement at Summer Game Fest is a big one.
