Rise of Incarnates is going Early Access, 4 February

When we were putting together the IncGamers list of 2015 PC titles, we weren’t quite sure what was going on with Rise of Incarnates; but now we do. The game came and went as a Steam alpha, but will be returning to that digital platform in Early Access form from 4 February.

As it’s a free-to-play title, everybody who fancies a go will be able to sample it. Former Tekken and Soulcalibur developers are said to be working on this, so it should hopefully have some pedigree there.

Versus mode, Arcade mode and Bot matches will be available on two maps (New York and Paris,) with additional maps and features to be added along the way in traditional Early Access style.

Rise of the Incarnates will initially have eight characters to choose from (these ones,) all of whom are able to draw powers from a specific demon, god or entity from Earth’s mythology. Hence you have names like Odin, Ra and the Grim Reaper.

These ‘incarnates’ are engaged in a battle for dominance on Earth, although I think the overall plot will be demanding that they work together in order to defeat the ‘Sovereign of the Era.’ You can be fairly sure that’ll still involve punching each other in 2v2 matches, though.
