Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath RoboCop vs Terminator

RoboCop and Terminator clash in latest Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath trailer

Your move, creep.

As we move ever closer to the release of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, the series’ first ever post-launch story DLC, NetherRealm keeps building on the hype. Today we got treated to quite the showdown. It’s a new trailer, featuring two icons of ’80s movie action: RoboCop, and enemy to coherent timelines everywhere, The Terminator.

The ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny

For those who don’t remember, or weren’t even born yet at the time (no, I’m not old, shut up), these two titans met before. Frank Miller (The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City) pitted these two in a comic book in 1992. Miller wrote the original script for RoboCop 2.

There was also a video game, loosely based on the comic of the same name. RoboCop Versus The Terminator was released on the Sega Genesis in 1994 — and had quite a few versions for other consoles and handhelds at the time. For kids of this era, this was a big deal — even if the games themselves were arguably not that great. Of course, it’s also not the first time two movie titans fought it out in a NetherRealm game. Both Predator and the xenomorph from the Alien franchise met once more as DLC fighters in Mortal Kombat X.

High chance of wind

Not only did NetherRealm give us the gift of this trailer today, but earlier the developer had a Kombat Kast. During the Kast, NetherRealm showed off more on Aftermath, namely with Fujin, the wind god and avid Aang cosplayer. In addition, and more interestingly, the developer showed off the addition of a brand new armor breaking mechanic. But with EVO Online less than a month away, any drastic changes to the core gameplay of Mortal Kombat 11 will definitely be the focus during such a large tournament.
