Rocket League Lucky Lanterns

Rocket League Lucky Lanterns event kicking off this month

Happy Lunar New Year!

Psyonix is no stranger to offering special events in its hit game, Rocket League. Just ask anyone that experienced Frosty Fest or Haunted Hallows. But it’s kicking off 2020 with a fresh new one, which will, ahem, light up the community. The company announced its Lucky Lanterns event, which is set to take place on January 20 and continue through February. The Lunar New Year-themed event will introduce a new arena into the fold, along with a number of new cosmetics to put on your ride.

What awaits in Lucky Lanterns?

First off, players will be able to battle in the new Forbidden Temple Arena, put on full display in the trailer below. Inspired by old-school design, it definitely looks like it’ll be a standout when it comes to battling. Just don’t get too distracted, yeah?

On top of that, a number of in-game items inspired by the Lantern Festival should also hit the shop. These include a lucky set of Fortune Wheels (don’t eat them), along with a Paper Dragon Topper. You’ll need to play in Online Matches to unlock these, with the assistance of some well-earned Red Envelopes. But fans are sure to tell you it’s worth it, as you’ll have a sweet-looking ride as a result.

Red Envelopes are also redeemable for Golden Lanterns, which can earn you special prizes from Champions Series 1, 2, and 3. They’ll be waiting in the Item Shop once you get those in your collection. New items will join the fray as well, so keep checking back.

The event kicks off on January 20 around 10 a.m. PDT and runs through February 10 at the same time. You’ll have through February 13 to redeem any Red Envelopes you earn over the course of the event though.

Rocket League is available now for Steam. You can read more about the Lucky Lanterns event at the official site.
