New Competitive Rank And Streamlined Schedule Coming To Rocket League (2)

As we race towards the free-to-play migration of Rocket League, there is much we are not clear on. Thankfully, Psyonix will give us more details in the next few weeks. The likes of revamped tournaments, new challenges, and cross-platform progression will be arriving. In addition, Psyonix will make some much-needed tweaks to the entire Rocket League experience.

Competitive Seasons, Competitive Tournaments, and Rocket Pass will all follow the same schedule in the near future. These changes will be live when Rocket League goes free to play and Season 1 commences. This will hopefully help players keep track of everything. The start and end dates will be uniform and clear cut.

As for those chasing the prestige of being top-ranked players in Rocket League, the goalposts have shifted. A new rank is being added above the current Grand Champion Rank. Moving forward, Grand Champion will be split into Grand Champion 1, Grand Champion 2, and Grand Champion 3. Current Grand Champions will likely be slotted in Grand Champion 1, depending on placement matches. From there, you can begin your ascent towards Supersonic Legend, the new top rank.

Resetting the playing field

Both Grand Champion and Supersonic Legend will have their own Season Rewards at the end of Season 1, as well as rank-specific titles. You will have to earn your bragging rights once more. Other players will not be left out, either. There will be a soft reset that shifts all ranks closer to the median rank of Gold III. With the high chance of plenty of newcomers joining Rocket League, this is expected to help balance things out. In order to access Ranked Playlists, you will have to hit Level 10 first.

The welcoming party for new players won’t stop there though. Psyonix will add a revised tutorial introduction to Rocket League. New players will also unlock items that were included in the base version of Rocket League via the New Driver Challenges. Other upcoming changes can be found on the accompanying blog post.

Psyonix still has not announced an exact start date for the Rocket League free-to-play update. However, the team did share that it will commence in the middle of the month. You have about three weeks to tighten those skills before new challengers arrive via the Epic Games Store.
