Rose brings good fortune to Street Fighter V, gets new gameplay trailer

I predict... you will not block this mix.
I See You Getting Bodied In The Future

Fan-favorite character Rose, who first appeared in Street Fighter Alpha, makes her debut in Street Fighter V today. Originally revealed last year with most of the rest of the Season Five DLC characters, Rose is the second new character of the game’s final season. First up was Dan Hibiki, and he was a big hit among players old and new. Season Five is bringing a lot of excitement and positive attention to the game, and Rose seeks to continue that trend now that she’s available in Street Fighter V. A Rose gameplay trailer released today alongside her to show off her new and returning moves.

Fans of the character will be happy to know that Rose has a little something from all her previous incarnations. Her Soul Satellite Ultra from Street Fighter IV returns as a V-Skill. Likewise, her Soul Illusion V-Trigger is a callback to custom combos from Street Fighter Alpha. Rose also brings some new tricks to the party, like her Soul Fortune V-Skill. This lets Rose use four different tarot cards that provide buffs to her and debuffs to her opponents. Her Soul Dimension V-Trigger lets Rose teleport around the screen and create some nasty mixups and wakeup situations.

Based on this Rose gameplay trailer, she seems to be based around two distinct styles of play. Her Soul Satellite and Soul Illusion make for a much more combo focused build that can deal out some massive damage. Conversely, running her Soul Fortune and Soul Dimension V-systems makes her a much more mixup-oriented character. Considering how neutral focused Street Fighter V is, I can see the latter being extremely powerful. But it looks like either build will allow players to flex their creativity and invent some crazy combos and mixups. You can check out a more in-depth look at her, as well as Oro, in our Spring Update breakdown.

More fan-favorite characters coming soon

Rose is included with both the standard Season 5 Character Pass, as well as the Season 5 Premium Pass. The latter of which also includes extra costumes, stages, titles, profile themes, and Fight money. You can also buy her individually for $5.99 USD or 100,000 Fight Money. You can also buy her new stage, Marina of Fortune, inspired by her Street Fighter Alpha 2 stage, for $3.99 USD or 70,000 Fight Money. The Season Pass brought along Dan, who released earlier this year. It will also include Oro from Street Fighter III and Akira from Rival Schools, slated to release later this year. You can check out all of these goodies right now on Steam.

We don’t know who the final Season 5 character will be, as Capcom is keeping that secret very guarded. But another update stream is planned for the Summer. During which I imagine we will see more of Akira, as well as a hint, if not a full reveal, of the final character. Not to mention the second new battle system to be implemented into the game. The first of which was V-Shift, a welcome new defensive option which released alongside Dan.

Rose is available in Street Fighter V as part of the Season 5 Character Pass today. Next up, we’ll get a look at Oro and Akira.
