Dark Souls PC: August Release Confirmed!

Thanks to the German magazine, PC Action, it seems the highly requested PC version of cult hit Dark Souls, may be in development. The rumored PC port has been dubbed Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition. If the rumors are to be believed it will also sport additional bosses. From Software have hinted in the past about making a PC port of the game, so there is some credibility to this rumor. As always take this with a pinch of salt, but with PC Action claiming to have the exclusive scoop on the PC port it will not be long before we find out how credible this rumor is.

For any that missed out on it, Dark Souls released October 8th 2011 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Being praised for its level of challenge and hugely rewarding gameplay, after being received on the consoles extremely well, many PC gamers began requesting a port. The game takes place in an open-world setting with the main focus being the hostile enemies and extremely tough boss fights. With the incredible difficulty level it put off many gamers, however those who took the challenge have very fond memories of being decimated multiple times by the same enemy. Hopefully PC gamers will also suffer the same fate later this year!

Update:

Namco Bandai made an announcement during a press event today confirming Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will release for PC August 24th 2012. It turns out there was initially no plan to port the game to PC, however the game was highly requested by PC gamers. And so the developers, From Software, were soon asked to begin preparing a PC port of the game. The director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, took a moment to mention how encouraging he felt the petition and fan feedback was. Namco Bandai added that there will be additional content for the PC version too, but did not go into details. The game will release worldwide on August 24th 2012 and will be available from select retailers and digital distribution.
