Runic Games not ruling out Torchlight 2 expansion or sequel

Torchlight 2 has been out a couple of weeks now and the community is eagerly awaiting the release of the game’s mod tools, called GUTS, and to also find out what else Runic has up their sleeves for the ARPG.

According to Runic Games CEO, Max Schaefer, they are not ruling out anything as far as the franchise is concerned following the game’ s successful launch.  Max has said that they will evaluate whether they should “put a bunch of people together and make a proper expansion pack and not trickle out stuff”, referring to free DLC content they plan on releasing.

When asked whether a Torchlight 3 would be a possibility he added “Yes. However I don’t know if it will expressly be a Torchlight game but with more, in the sense that Torchlight 2 was the same as Torchlight 1 but with more. I would imagine the next iteration in the Torchlight universe would involve a twist, and I don’t know what that would be just yet”.

The community response to Torchlight 2 has been excellent since launch and the game has been well received by critics, so it’s good to hear that the team are not going to down tools and will look at keeping the franchise alive.
