To be more accurate, Ryan Barnard had already left Ubisoft in February, according to his LinkedIn page and he will now have a brand new role at IO Interactive as gameplay director.

Square had of course something to say about their new employee:
“Ryan’s contributions to game design over the years show he’s the ideal person to spearhead the coming efforts. We are very happy to add his talent to the pool of great people working at IO.”

Barnard started working in the industry at SOne Online Entertainment and also held different positions at EA Mythic and Crytek. He joined Ubisoft Massive in September 2011 as an associate creative director and in February 2014 he became an overall game director.
