Samsung has announced a new range of “gaming SSD’s” (solid state drive) for a “superior PC gaming experience.”
Richard Walsh of Samsung Semiconductor Europe marketing said “the blistering speed and dazzling photovisuals enabled by Samsung’s 256GB SSD are impressing enhancements for the gaming experience.” Samsung’s 256GB SSD will reduce data loading time, “providing up to five-fold the performance of HDDs,” and have a low power consumption.
“The PC gaming market continues to evolve into a more mainstream segment, and should reach $30.7 billion by the end of 2012,” according to Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research. He sees the PC gaming industry as “an important innovation driver for adopting cutting-edge technology,” Like SSD’s. “Using an SSD will give the gamer the extra edge that he or she is seeking.”
The press release from Samsung also goes in depth stroking the company ego by mentioning the “Samsung’s SSD Hardware is Stupid Fast” blog entry by popular tech guru Chris Pirillo, but the fact is: if you can afford one, get it. They rock, seriously.
