Psychonauts is one of those older titles with a (well deserved) dedicated following, who, it seems, spend their time asking Double Fine’s Tim Schafer when he’s going to make another one. In response, Schafer has told Digital Spy that actually he’s “pitched that to publishers several times and no-one has taken the bait so far”.
He went on to say that the problem is a simple one: “I’d have to convince someone to just give me a few million dollars, that’s all.”
Well, someone who has ‘a few’ million dollars now is Minecraft creator Markus Persson. Persson seems up for the idea, tweeting “Let’s make Psychonauts 2 happen” and following up with a confirmation that he is indeed serious.
Schafer has yet to respond (publically at least), and this may never go beyond idle twitter-talk, but it’s quite a pipe-dream.
