Season The Game Awards 2020 a letter to the future delayed 2023

Season: A letter to the future has been delayed from fall to early 2023

One more hill to climb.

Season: A letter to the future has been delayed until the first quarter of 2023. The news was announced by the game’s Twitter account earlier today. Thanking patient fans, Scavengers wrote that the delay was needed for extra polish “without it affecting the wellbeing” of the team.

Season, the atmospheric adventure game by Scavengers Studio, has had a bumpy ride. The stunningly gorgeous game was first revealed during The Game Awards 2020. It surprised many with its striking and colorful visuals. However, its development was rocked in 2021 with allegations of harassment at the studio. Some issues seemed to get addressed, however. Regardless, it hasn’t been smooth sailing. And the trip isn’t over yet.

“We want to ensure that we are able to push for quality without it affecting the wellbeing of our team,” the team wrote in the message. “SEASON has always been a labor of love for the team and this additional time will let us polish and refune the game to make it the special experience we set out for it to be. We look forward to bringing you the world of SEASON: A letter to the future, and appreciate your patience while we continue to work hard on it.”

The long, dusty road to somewhere

For those who don’t recall, Season: A letter to the future follows Estelle as she records life in an esoteric village. For a long time, the village has been free from the change of the seasons. But no longer. As things begin to shift forever, you travel around this place, taking photos and meeting with people. It’s a narrative adventure, where choices are supported by information you gather in your journey.

There’s something certainly wistful about the game and its story. Though delayed until Q1 2023, I am looking forward to unraveling Season: A letter to the future when it arrives.
