Grinding Gear Games will be adding a bunch of new things to aRPG Path of Exile in the next couple of days, as the ‘second phase’ of the game’s open beta gets underway on 5 June (New Zealand time, apparently.)

Changes include “a significant rebalance” of  game areas and monsters. Monsters will now do less damage across the board, but passive skills linked to life and Energy Shield restoration have also been reduced in effectiveness. Melee characters should benefit from a focus on armour for defence, rather than ‘life.’

For those in need of a greater challenge, Anarchy and Onslaught leagues will be launching from 8 June and run until 8 October. In Anarchy, players will run into AI-controlled Exiles who can use the same skills as regular players. Meanwhile, in Onslaught, there’ll be “increases to monster attack, cast, and movement speeds.” This one is intended for those who’ve already mastered Path of Exile’s hardcore difficulty.

Both leagues will feature six new base items and six league-specific Uniques.
