Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 review – A near perfect gaming chair

The titan of gaming chairs

Whether you’re a gamer or just work from home, there’s a good chance you spend a lot of time sitting. Secretlab knows that and has been making some of the best gaming chairs on the market for a while now. After all, comfort is key, and you’ll see in our review that the trend continues with the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022.

The Titan Evo 2022 is the most recent update in the Titan lineup, and adds new features like swappable armrests and a magnetic neck pillow. Other features include the built-in adjustable lumbar support as well as a pebble-style seat to improve the overall comfort of the chair. Available starting at $549 USD, Secretlab aims to show that you get what you pay for when it comes to premium seating.

Assembly made easy

One area where Secretlab has really thrived over the years is the overall assembly of its chairs. The Titan Evo 2022 chair is no different. Everything lines up perfectly for the screws, the wheels on the metal base easily snap into place, and the back support and seat match up exactly as expected. It really is one of the easiest-to-assemble chair lineups on the market. And that comes from someone who’s assembled dozens of gaming chairs from a number of different brands.

All of the materials feel solid, and once it’s put together you can immediately tell just how high-quality everything is. Everything from the wheels to the steel structure and seat parts are impressive. Nothing feels cheaply made.

I guess my only gripe with assembly is how many pieces of packaging there are within the box to open and get everything. But, beggars can’t really be choosers when the most important thing is that everything comes protected and safe in said box.

A different type of comfort

As with any chair, whether for gaming, work, or other, comfort is key. It is without question the most important aspect of any seat you want to sit in. If it’s not comfortable, why bother with it?

The Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 comes in three different material selections: Hybrid Leatherette, SoftWeave Plus Fabric, and Leather. There are also three different size variations so you can pick the right fit for your body:

  • Small: 17.7 in wide seat for those below 5’6” and below 200 lbs
  • Regular: 18.5 in wide seat for those between 5’7” – 6’2” and below 220 lbs
  • XL: 19.3 in wide seat for those 5’11 – 6’7” and between 175 lbs – 395 lbs

With the new sizing measurements, it removes those on-the-border-sized users from having concerns about which to buy. This is something that wasn’t the case back for chairs like the old Secretlab Omega in 2021.

As it says above, the Titan Evo 2022 is a different type of comfort. It’s not the same plush seat like past chairs from the company. Instead, it’s a more firm seat that, while comfortable, did take some getting used to. As someone with little-to-no meat on the posterior, I like a more plush type of seat — something lacking with the new Titan Evo. That being said, it’s not as though I find myself being super uncomfortable after long sit sessions. It’ll all come down to your personal preference.

One thing about the seat I really like is that it does a good job of keeping you centered. With the aforementioned “pebble style” seat, you won’t find yourself hanging off to one side or another. Instead, you just find yourself positioned just right in the middle.

The backrest is incredible for overall support. The built-in adjustable lumbar support helps keep your back in position, and you sitting upright. The memory foam neck pillow is nice, I just wish the magnet was a bit stronger. It’s pretty easy to knock off with the simplest of movements.

The magnetic swappable arm rests are also a great addition solely for the fact that you’re likely to see wear and tear on those before any other part of the chair. Plus, if you don’t like the feeling of the stock foam ones, you can always upgrade to a more plush type.

Lastly, let’s talk about body heat. I was sent a “Cookies & Cream” SoftWeave Plus Fabric chair. With that in mind, I was able to sit for hours during the work day without feeling uncomfortable from built up heat or sweat. It’s something that often gets overlooked when buying a new chair, but really makes a difference in long-term comfort.

Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 review verdict – Is it worth buying?

It’s no secret – pun intended – that Secretlab is right at the top of the discussion when it comes to the best gaming chairs. Year over year, the company tries to improve its designs to provide the best comfort and durability of any chair on the market. With the Titan Evo 2022, Secretlab clearly hit another home run.

Even though the cushion base isn’t as soft compared to past models, it still provides comfort that many cheaper chairs just can’t match. With a high starting price, it’s definitely one of the more expensive chairs on the market. But can you really put a price on proper posture and support?

The Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 gaming chair is available now on the company’s website.
