Sega Thinks About Shenmue 1 & 2 Remasters

It’s only normal to get people interested into the scenario of releasing remasters for Shenmue 1 & 2. After the announcement of Shenmue 3, it seems that Sega is thinking about remastering the cult classics that have influenced the gaming world after their original release on Dreamcast.

During the latest episode of Sega Central, community manager Dan Sheridan mentioned that Sega has started thinking about remastering the classic titles from the past:

“Sadly, it’s not as simple as porting the games to current platforms as we will need to ensure that any HD remaster lives up to the quality of the original titles,” he said.

“And with games as immersive as Shenmue 1 and 2, there are further complications from licensed products that were included in the original games. That said, we’d love to do it and are currently investigating how to make it a reality.”

Releasing updated versions for Shenmue 1 & 2 before the arrival of Shenmue 3 would be really great. It would help young gamers or players that did not experience the two games at their time to relive the timeless experience of Sega’s two classic games. Keep in mind that Shenmue 3 will probably arrive in late 2017.
