Today, Square Enix announced the first line of content for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This first expansion for the main story will be titled “The Forge”, and it arrives on November 13, 2018.

In our review, conducted here, playing mostly just main story missions rounded out at about 15 hours of solid gameplay. This excluded many of the various other side missions of the game. Hopefully, this DLC pack and those that follow will give us plenty more time in Lara’s shoes.

    Season Gasp

The previous game in the Tomb Raider franchise, Rise of the Tomb Raider, saw three content expansions to the main game. These were Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, Cold Darkness Awakened, and the Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration Pack. Each of these retailed for $9.99 USD, with the season pass coming in at $29.99. The pass contained additional skins and modes outside of the additional content.

For Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the season pass will run you the same dollar amount. However, it is now spread between seven content pack releases, with each arriving at a $4.99 price point (individually) and on a monthly basis.

    Gimme The Loot

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is much larger in comparison to the two titles that came before it. There is an extensive list of side missions and challenge tombs to explore throughout the city of Paititi. The screenshots showcase a fiery, lava-filled pit as well as pillars to climb.┬áThe Forge looks to add an additional challenge tomb and reward you with completion in the form of the Grenadier skill and the Umbrage 3-80 weapon. This tomb’s completion will also reward you with the Brocken outfit.

    New co-op challenges await.

The season pass will release even more new content as it rolls on. Again, there are seven DLC drops in total, bringing more challenge tombs, weapons, and duds for Lara. There are also co-op challenges, alongside score and time attack modes. Shadow of the Tomb Raider hosted a rather deep narrative experience, and Square Enix promises to add “additional narrative side missions” as well. However, it is unclear as to what contents each DLC pack will include.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider‘s “The Forge” DLC releases on November 13, 2018, and will retail for $4.99. You can view all the details for the season pass on the Steam page here.
