Buckets of demon blood

The live stream was already off to a bloody start with Devolver’s now infamous spokesperson Nina recapping the previous Devolver Digital conferences. But shortly after we got this brand new look at Shadow Warrior 3 which comes right after the first reveal of the game last week. We get to see series protagonist Wang swing, wall run, and use a multitude of weapons against the demonic hordes. All with the signature humor that the series is known for.

Magic is yet another tool at Wang’s disposal, as he can use it to dispatch enemies in wildly over the top ways. The environment itself can also be used as a weapon, as different structures can be used for instant kills against enemies. There are also up close finishing moves, which are very reminiscent of Doom‘s Glory Kills. At the end of the trailer, we got a release window of next year, 2021.

Zip, grapple, shoot, and slash

The emphasis on mobility showcased in this trailer looks like a lot of fun. We also have the copious amounts of blood and gore that we would expect from a Shadow Warrior game. Here is an official statement on the game from developer Flying Wild Hog:

“Fallen corporate shogun Lo Wang and his former employer turned nemesis turned sidekick Orochi Zilla embark on an improbable mission to recapture an ancient dragon they unwillingly unleashed from its eternal prison. Armed with a punishing mix of blades and bullets, Lo Wang must traverse uncharted parts of the world to track down the dark beast and push the apocalypse back yet again. All it will take is the mask of a dead god, a dragon’s egg, a touch of magic, and enough firepower to hold off the impending cataclysm.”

You can head to Steam right now and add the game to your wishlist.
