Signalis: How to open the Butterfly Pareidolia Safe in Rotfront

The room with the Butterfly Pareidolia Safe in Signalis can be found in the top-left section of the Apartments (Upper Floor). I’m trying to jog my memory here. But, just in case the hallway door is locked, then you might need to explore and loop around a bit.

This means jumping down the Meat Grinder in Apartments (Ground Floor), circling around to the right side of the Metro Station (where you’ll find the Computer Store save point), and climbing up the Fire Escape ladder. You should then end up in the opposite side of the hallway.

Note: The Dentist Room here has the Red Diskette, which is part of the Magpie Box/Computer Antenna puzzle.

Anyway, in this room, you’ll spot a safe which has the L-S-T-R combination (referring to the game’s protagonist).

You’ll also notice butterflies in a display case on the wall, with the word “Pareidolia” written.

According to Merriam-Webster, pareidolia is “the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern.”

Simply put, the answer is right in front of you. If you look closely at the butterfly wings, you’ll see letters in the patterns.

With that in mind, click on the safe’s buttons to spell out this word: A-E-O-N. Press the large circle, and it will unlock the Butterfly Pareidolia Safe in Signalis, which nets you the Moon Card.

Now, you’re one step closer to acquiring all the Tarot Cards needed for the Moon Mural puzzle in Rotfront.
