Sniper Elite Vr

Sniper Elite VR release date set for July

Get snipin'.

If you’ve been looking to get your sniping fix in virtual reality, then you only have a month to wait. Sniper Elite VR finally has its release date set in stone. The game will be available on Steam VR, Oculus Rift, and Oculus Quest on July 8. The game is a first-person shooter, which isn’t surprising because it’s VR. It’s not a lazy port of existing Sniper Elite content shoved into a VR package, either. It’s said to be built entirely with the medium in mind. I’m sure the killcams will be something else when seen like this.

Sniper Elite VR puts you in the shoes of an Italian partisan during World War II. The game is being published by Rebellion Entertainment, and developed by Just Add Water along with Coatsink. It’s going to have 18 missions that can be replayed at any time, all taking place within a standalone campaign that requires no familiarity with the rest of the series. The weapons are painstakingly rendered to be as accurate to the real historical ones as possible, too. If you’re not familiar with the series, the game also requires you to monitor your heartrate and breath when taking your shots, so I’m sure there’s plenty of room for things to make quite the impression in VR.

Sniper Elite VR release date is in our sights

The Sniper Elite series has been around since 2005 with the release of the first game. The second didn’t come out for seven years. That one actually got a remaster that I reviewed the other year — it didn’t hold up so well. But the more recent entries in the series have been more widely enjoyed, and it’s likely that Sniper Elite VR will be closer to them than the first two games. Series developer publisher is also behind the Zombie Army games, which have attained a fair amount of popularity.
