During this evening’s AMA with SOE’s John Smedley he dropped a hint that he hoped would appeal to players of Star Wars Galaxies. The AMA was a follow-up to the announcment  that four of their current MMOs would be closing starting 31 March.

SWG was shut down by SOE on December 15 2011, and while it had some major flaws, there was a dedicated fanbase that were sorry to see it go.

During the AMA this evening Smedley hinted that there’s something on the horizon at SOE which would appeal to SWG’s players. When asked what title he would relaunch if he could he said:

SWG. I would do everything differently. SWG PLAYERS – OUR NEXT GAME (not announced yet) IS DEDICATED TO YOU. Once we launch it… you can come home now.

Intriguing little hint there of what might be coming. With Disney now owning the Star Wars license it’s unlikely to be anything Star Wars related. Possibly space based though.
