Sons Of The Forest Delayed 1

Sons of the Forest delayed until ‘early to mid 2022,’ new trailer coming soon

Human skulls and cannibals.

Sons of the Forest, the follow-up to The Forest, was revealed during The Game Awards nearly two years ago. To be frank, I nearly forgot about the game. Developer Endnight Games has been only slowly releasing new and interesting bits since the announcement. But the last I heard of it was nearly a year ago. Today, however, Endnight broke the silence by announcing that Sons of the Forest has been delayed until “early to mid 2022.” However, it did offer new screenshots, as well as the promise of another trailer coming in the “next few weeks.”

I’m probably being unfair, but I have been excited for Sons of the Forest. Having finished the original, I was looking forward to seeing what Endnight was up to next. Apparently, it had something to do with some really, erm, friendly multi-legged ladies, who are probably demons or monsters of some sort. Last year’s trailer gave us more of a clue, however. Sons of the Forest is actually very much like its predecessor, returning with survival elements, base building, and its infamous roving cannibals.

In the developer’s message today, we got another peak at what it will all look like. Endnight offered four new screenshots, showing off a possible weapon made from a human skull, the inventory, anti-turtle sentimentality, and fun with cannibals. On that latter part, you can apparently wave around a cannibal’s head. I imagine this is for two reasons: one, it scares other cannibals, or two, it’s a very involved Blood cosplay.

What I can gather from the screenshots is that Sons of the Forest is much like the original. Instead of an airplane, you instead survive a helicopter crash and are left with nothing but an axe. Using the tool, you chop down trees, build log cabins and walls, craft weapons, and more. The cannibals have also returned to wreck your shit. However, the trailer last year does suggest that something is odd about your usually naked foes. Some of them wear masks, hinting at the game’s overall story.

In today’s announcement, Endnight Games has promised that another trailer is on the way. We’ll keep an eye out.

Sons of the Forest will launch in 2022.
