Switching it up.
Sons Of The Forest Ammo Type Shotgun

Sons of the Forest has a multitude of weapons you’re able to use from range. Whether it be a bow for you to try and emulate Hawkeye, or you simply want to use a pistol and be John Wick. There are a few options for you to use in the sequel to cult-classic The Forest. One of the ways that the game lets you express yourself with your weaponry is through ammo types, which you can discover in Sons of the Forest. If you’re using a bow, for example, you can switch to multiple types of arrows. You might be possibly stumped with how to do this, because the game fails to explain it. Here’s how to change ammo type in Sons of the Forest.

How to change ammo type in Sons of the Forest

You can change ammo types in Sons of the Forest by looking down to the ground and pressing the reload key when the prompt appears. This is easily done, but it can be a bit confusing. You wouldn’t necessarily think to look down to change your weapon’s ammo type. It is also the only method for changing weapon types in Sons of the Forest; you aren’t able to do it from even the inventory screen.

Weapons that use ammo types

There are two types of weapons that use the ability to change ammo type. One of those two is the shotgun, which can switch between buckshot and slug. The other weapon that can change its ammo type are bow weapons. With bows, you can switch between the different types of arrows you can find and make in Sons of the Forest. These arrow types are: the carbon-fiber arrows; crafted/stone arrows; and 3D printed arrows.

If you’re wondering where you can find ammo types in Sons of the Forest, you can find them across the map in suitcases and the other types of containers you see dotted around the place. You can also find ammo in caves and other locations you can see on your GPS.
