Space Empires: Starfury Announced

Shrapnel Games has announced the next title in Malfador Machinations’  Space Empires series, Space Empires: Starfury. This game will take a new direction for the series as players now take on the role of a starship captain trying to eke out a life amongst the stars.  Tim Brooks, President and founder of Shrapnel Games has added

“In the past Aaron Hall and Malfador Machinations have allowed players to create vast empires in space. This time instead of players examining the universe from a god’s eye view they’ll be down in the trenches, commanding one starship, which will be very exciting. Imagine the thrill of you sitting in the captain’s chair, making the all important decisions!”

In Starfury players will have the ability to customise their vessels, there’s also an ‘intense combat  model’, and the game is said to be stacked full of missions. Other game features you can expect include the following:

3-D real time graphics, supporting 24-bit color and resolutions of 1024×768 and above!

Twelve different ship classes to actually pilot, with more than fifty total types in the game.

You’ll also be able to customize your vessel with a wide variety of components.

Open ended gameplay in a vast dynamic living universe! Follow the missions set out for you or don’t; the choice is up to you. Become a mercenary, a merchant, or even an intergalactic pirate. Earn money for your ship’s upkeep the honest way or take it by force, the choice is
yours!

Meet and greet the various races from the best-selling Space Empires series on a personal level. Trade with them! Seduce their women! Or just blow them up!

Encounter a wide variety of stellar locations, ranging from gas giants to trinary stars to everyone’s favorite, nebulae!

Just like Space Empires IV, it’s a mod, mod world. Players will be able to mod the game as they see fit. Whether it’s creating the Star Wars galaxy or the Honor Harrington universe, the player’s imagination (and creativity) is the only limit!
