Spooks in the spotlight: Ghost Recon Online hits open beta

A blog post on the Ubisoft site for Ghost Recon Online reveals that the game is now in open beta. It’s one of those free-to-play shooter type things, so if you’ve got at least 4gig to spare on your hard drive and some time to spare then you too could be messing around with the Assault, Specialist and Recon classes of Ghost in various multiplayer guises.

Of course, you’ll also need a Uplay account to sign up and sign in, but if you’ve played … well, pretty much any Ubisoft game from the past couple of years then you’ll have one of those already.

While you’re waiting for it to download, you could even read the Beginner’s Guide to figure out what the heck is going on in the gadget-centric world this game inhabits.

As this is a free-to-play game, microtransactions are all over the place; but it’s possible to grind for the equipment you want through sheer bloodymindedness and many hours of play too.
