Star Citizen Free Fly week is here – Try Arena Commander now

Not backed it and want to see what all the fuss is about? It’s free for a time.

Cloud Imperium are running a couple of promos tied to recent gaming events that have been taking place, PAX and SXSW. These promos give PC gamers the chance to check out the Arena Commander dogfighting module for free and all you need are a couple of codes and to fill in a few details.

The PAX promo has a sign-up page here and if you use this code PAXEASTFREEFLY2K15 you can gain access to the game but it’s only open for the next 23 hours. Alternatively you can also sign-up via the SXSW page using the code SXSWFREEFLY2K15 to get started and this one will let you play until 20 March.

The client comes in at around 20Gb and the ship available to try is the Anvil Hornet F7C. You can also take a look around the hangar for good measure which will at least give you a taste of the game’s atmosphere and interiors.

If you’ve never tried Star Citizen and wonder why everyone is talking about it and pumped so much cash into the crowdfunding then give this promotion a try.

If it had Oculus VR support, yea.
Without that a Space sim is dead for me since I played them with VR.

It does have Occulus VR support.
That said, it’s DK1 support only atm as far as I can recall.
You could try to look things up a bit though, it’s possible that I’m wrong and there’s more updated info out there…

Nope it does not have, it has a half finished support only for the hangar for a years old VR hardware no one on earth still uses except some poor indian developers.
They expect people to put on a low resolution VR helmet only in hangar, then quit the game, disable VR support, restart it and play with monitor ?
That was quite a slap in the face of the VR backers 🙂

You made such an intelligent argument, one more please and you might have truely convinced me about all the errors in my post.

Terrible idea it turned out. The servers couldn’t handle the capacity, lots of people got a negative view of the game.
