Star Citizen Squadron 42 updates start next week followed by an ATV special

In October CIG stated that there would be Star Citizen Squadron 42 news coming in December. It’s December now and there appears to be some movement on an update coming from CIG.

While CIG continues to polish up Star Citizen 3.0 as best they can, Squadron 42 is supposed to be the focus of their Holiday Live Stream. This evening they also announced that an “inaugural Squadron 42 newsletter” is coming next week.

This newsletter will be released each month and give an insight into the single-player campaign. It looks like this special Squadron 42 holiday event is happening on Thursday, 21 December at 12PM PST as part of the Holiday ATV Special.

In other news, the Star Citizen 3.0 PTU has been feature locked and we can assume a release to the masses will be happening reasonably soon. The latest production schedule is now live for this week.

This is good news for some backers who are only interested in the single-player Squadron 42 which CIG has been keeping well under wraps for a long time. It’s highly unlikely we’ll find out when it’s going to be released because many of the game’s features are shared with the PU version of the game.

Still, something is better than nothing and we can only hope that it’s further down the line in development than we suspect it actually is. If CIG gets Squadron 42 right, it could help them with funding and give backers some hope.

      The first backer ever banned by CIG for trolling and being toxic against the team…

      As everybody know game scope have changed mid-2014 with backers approval. Support that never stopped with +30M$ pledged each years since then.

      3.0 is in PTU, tested by now thousands of backers. 2018 is going to see many jobs added as well as concept ships delivered. Prospector for instance, the first mining dedicated ship.

        SQ42 could be fun but personally I’m much more looking forward Star Citizen PU.

        Alpha 3.0 PTU provides already amazing gameplay moments no other game offers. Things just gets better once they start to integrate professions and gameplay features in Alpha 3.x releases.

            So what should I watch or see in that video? I rather test Alpha 3.0 PTU myself than watch someone else testing it.

            The following link is much better because it captures real situation on how 3.0 is going to be 100% of the time in PU as CIG is weekly improving gameplay/test experience with patchs released twice per week.
            We came from 8 players per instance to 50, CPU spike every minute to every 10 or more minutes, several hours session at +25fps with few 5FPS drops… Indeed this is called Alpha debugging, something nobody is supposed to see before Beta or sometimes Gold release.

            As Usual Tufao/Manze will pick the worst and pretend this is the current state of art 🙂

            Here is 4 minutes of the best 3.0 has to offer… and this is not yet released to PU (all Backers) with many jobs/features to be added in 2018… less and less hater every day… but more desperate 🙂

              I find it funny to use bugs or unfinished features in development versions any sort of argument in the first place. If those are really the worst things they found to fight against the project the project must do very well in their mind as well.

              It is good to see how strong SC Alpha 3.0 is already on its most bare state. The base design makes it already possible to create great gameplay moments with other players.
