Star Trek: Alien Domain promises Trek strategy action

Star Trek

Another Star Trek game has been revealed but will this be any good?

There’s not been many decent Star Trek games, the best ones are still the Interplay adventures. Trek is such a massive franchise so the games will keep coming and the latest is called Star Trek: Alien Domain.

This game from GameSamba and CBS Interactive is an online strategy game which will be playable in a browser. Don’t groan, it might turn out to be excellent.

The game is focused around the exploration of “Fluidic Space”, which Trek fans will know all about from the Voyager series, and players will be tasked with managing their resources, establish colonies, and iconic ships from the series are also included.  We do know there will be Constitution-class and Defiant-class starships for the Federation, and D7 Battle Cruisers and Bird-of-Prey for the Klingon Empire.

Scott Wong, president of GameSamba added:

“We’re excited to make a game based on a franchise we’re all such huge fans of.The chance to add our own story to the Star Trek universe, and help bring it to a global audience, is one of those opportunities you can only dream of.”

Star Trek: Alien Domain won’t just be about expanding your reach in Fluidic Space and exploring, there will be PvP, raids against outposts, and  large-scale guild vs. guild Alliance Battles.

Based on the tiny amount of information we have  it actually sounds quite decent. The fact that it’s being developed for browsers does set the alarm bells ringing but the concept is solid and if you love Trek it’s one to watch.

A holding page website is now up and running.
