Star Trek Bridge Crew now has voice to command AI

Star Trek Bridge Crew is a great game multiplayer, but not everyone wants to captain their ship with other real crew members. This is where IBM’s Watson Interactive Speech comes into play.

Today Ubisoft has now fully integrated IBM Watson’s interactive speech and cognitive capabilities which means players playing with AI can now command their crew with voice. Previously you had a load of menus to select through to issue commands or you would have to take control of a specific crew member. With voice now added, commanding the crew should feel more realistic.

If a full crew of real players can’t be found then this tech will mean adding an AI player to the crew line-up won’t feel quite as strange.

According to Ubisoft, this is an experimental beta so it could be pulled at any point should improvements or changes need to be made. Still, if it works well then it’s a fantastic addition to what is already a great VR game.
