Star Trek Online : New Footage In Dev Interview

New gameplay footage of Cryptic Studios’ upcoming MMO, Star Trek Online, has appeared in an interview with one of the game’s developers.

Although much of the footage has been released before, a few new shots have been peppered in to this interview with an Executive Producer at Cryptic Studios, Craig Zinkievich. He spoke to MSNBC about the game and gave a brief overview for anyone who hasn’t been following the development closely.

Star Trek Online is set in the year 2409, 30 years after the ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’ film and the ‘Voyager’ series. He described the universe as more dangerous than before; the accord between the Klingons and Federation has broken down, and a dark nemesis from the past is returning to the Alpha quadrant that everybody is going to have to worry about.

Players will not only fly starships and experience space combat, they can beam down to planets and go into disabled space stations with an away team. There will be bridge officers, which are essentially pet NPCs that players can name and level up. They each posses specialities and may be equipped for away missions, unless the group is made up of other players.See the video below:
