If you’re a fan of Star Wars Battlefront or if you simply enjoyed playing the game over the last months, you will be pleased to hear that EA announced the game’s sequel. Following EA’s teasers earlier this year that multiple Star Wars titles are currently in development, one of these projects will be Star Wars Battlefront 2.
EA CFO Blake Jorgensen commented on Battlefront 2 during an earnings call that it will feature “bigger and better worlds.” He also added that the title will focus on content from the new movies, though he didn’t name exactly which ones.
The first Battlefront game only featured content from the original Star Wars trilogy, with a small exception of Battle of Jakku which takes place somewhere in between the old and the new movies.
These news shouldn’t surprise anyone, since the first game was a massive success for the company. Star Wars Battlefront has shipped 14 million copies, a huge number even for a triple-A release like this one.
While Jorgensen said that EA plans to release one new Star Wars game every year for the next three to four years, it’s still unclear if Star Wars Battlefront 2 will come in 2017. We will let you know as soon as EA decides to get more detailed about this topic in the next weeks. Maybe we’ll see an official trailer during this year’s E3 Press Conference, who knows?
