Bioware has finally launched Star Wars: The Old Republic Galactic Starfighter to players who are not chipping in with subscription cash. The new content went live over a month ago for the paying customers and now it’s free for everyone.

Now it’s free to play more content has been added including six new ships including the new bomber, detailed scoreboards with performance stats, a personal battle record and the new Kuat Drive Yards level.

The update comes as a new road map for the game has been released and update 2.7 will arrive on 8 April and includes two new flashpoints on Tython and Korriban, a new tier of gear, a new Huttball Warzone on Quesh, and another new Galactic Starfighter Battlezone.

Looking even further ahead to 10 June there will be new ships and a new Ship Role for Galactic Starfighter and Nightmare Mode Dread Palace Operation. More details and content will be released at a later date for this update so expect more.

Producer Bruce Maclean says that two digital expansions for the game will be released this year which will be on a similar scale to  Galactic Starfighter and one will be similar to last year’s Rise of the Hutt Cartel.

Finally, testing of updates is going to be changed from every two weeks to three weeks now to catch what he called “pesky bugs”.
