State of Decay

“I’ll finally catch you, PC version!”

Undead Labs has announced the date on which State of Decay will release on Steam’s ‘early access’ service to be 20 September. The price will be $20.00 USD (Undead Labs notes that “our publisher” decided on that); the same as the completed Xbox 360 version was on release. That’s maybe a bit on the steep side, as the PC version will be in beta stages while it’s in early access.

The usual way of doing this is offering the early access version at a discount, as a small reward for jumping in so soon. However, that’s not going to be the case with State of Decay. The developer also reminds everybody that this early version will require people to own an Xbox 360 controller (or possibly third-party compatible version, though these have not been tested much yet.)

Again, this is going to be an early version of the game, so as Undead Labs put it: “This process is not for everyone. Casual players, the easily frustrated, and the short of time should NOT get the Early Access version … You all deserve the best, so if you’re not into giving feedback, just wait a few months and play the final version after we make it great.”
