Steam Scream Fest will bring discounts to horror games just in time for Halloween

It's spooky season.
Steam Scream Fest

In the tradition of rolling out holiday festivities just a bit early, Steam revealed its upcoming “Steam Scream Fest” that will put horror games in the spooky spotlight. Steam shoppers will get the chance to pick up various horror games at a discounted price next month. And as usual with Steam Fests, it’ll feature deals and demos for current and upcoming horror games. These games will also feature “Halloween-themed gameplay” to really sell the theme.

Steam Scream Fest will specifically feature games with relevant tags, such as Horror, Vampires, Werewolves, Supernatural, etc. Regarding the “Halloween-themed gameplay,” some games will have events that include “dedicated items / cosmetics, thematic quests, maps, characters, and/or action” in-game. Simple cosmetic reskins are “not sufficient” to participate in this event. These special events must also run strictly from October 25 to November 1.

‘Tis the season to be spooky

This event announcement doesn’t mention any specific games as of yet, so you’ll have to wait to see if your favorite will appear on the list. Games must reply to an invitation based on the listed criteria and manually enter the event themselves. Judging by the criteria, however, this event may benefit live-service games that feature recurring updates, such as Phasmophobia or Dead by Daylight. Games that participate do not need to have a discount, although discounted games will be featured more prominently.

No matter what games are featured in the event, hopefully some good ones can stop my heart. For more information about the upcoming Steam Scream Fest event, you can visit the official event post here. The Steam Scream Fest will run from October 25 to November 1, just in time for Halloween. Get your costumes and wallets ready for the onslaught of horror games on the horizon. And if you’re not a fan of horror games, you may need to keep your eyes shut for a few days.
