Steam sets new concurrent users record

Valve’s Steam platform has set a new concurrent users record after seeing over five million users logged on at the same time.
The figure was breached this past Monday (2 January 2012), which saw 5,012,460 people using the platform. Steam has been hosting a generous Christmas/New Year sale over the past couple of weeks, so that probably has a lot to do with the increase in user numbers.
Plus, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been selling better than any other game in Steam history – so that probably helped the figures a little. Valve’s Jason Holtman called Skyrim the “fastest selling title in Steam hisory.”
