steam holiday sale blade

This is actually a photo-realistic image of Valve’s HQ.

I know what you’re thinking. What happened to Day 7 of the Steam Winter Sale? Well, ask Valve, because they decided to give away Left 4 Dead 2 for free and their servers crumbled beneath the weight of people wanting to take them up on that.

The servers may well have come back, but I was too busy doing a Christmas to keep checking in with that.

But now it’s the boxiest of all days, so what better time to get back into the swing of things? Lots to recommend today. On the cheaper end of things, there’s the magnificent Hotline Miami for $2.00 USD, or Dark Souls at $6.00 (be warned that it’s Game for Windows Live and GfWL will be turned off in March, so the multiplayer bits might stop working unless it gets patched up.) Or why not explore a Portland house in Gome Home for $6.80? You’ll never look at a Christmas Duck the same way again.

If you have a bit more to splash out with, NBA2K14 is there for $15.00, although I have no idea how decent the PC ports of those titles are.

Flash-wise, you’ve got Bastion knocking around again for just $2.25. Good price, if you haven’t got that already.

Steamy Tips: Wait for Daily, Flash or Community Voted sales on specific games you’re interested in. That’s when they’ll be cheapest. If the game you want never goes on one of those sales, you can still pick it up at a ‘regular’ Steam Winter Sale price before it ends on 3 January.
