Paradox is back with another developer diary for the upcoming Stellaris ‘Heinlein’ 1.3 developer update.
This week the development team discuss changes to ship design as well as fleet changes and balancing. Paradox is looking to address the issue of ships not having specific roles in the game and are aiming to change this and technology will also play a part in how each ship time will perform against each other in battle. They are also adding three new weapon slot types to ships, Torpedo, Point Defense, and Extra Large for long range weapons.
Utility slots are also being reworked with the amount of damage reduction now being dependent on the size of a ship, new utility types, and special utilities will now have their own slot type limited by hull size.
Paradox is really going to town with this as they are looking to balance all weapons in the game. combat computers will be based on ship type and more.
