Street Fighter V is celebrating five years and the release of its fifth and final season. Capcom announced today via a press release that the “historic” Street Fighter V Season 5 will bring players free goodies and new content, including a brand new character. Players can access the Season 5 passes today. Plus, there’s plenty more in store for Street Fighter V‘s fifth anniversary.
Dan Hibiki is back and better than ever. The Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter IV character kicks off Street Fighter V Season 5 as “a training partner to Ryu and Ken,” according to the official release. The “Master of Saikyo” is available now with both Season 5 passes. Dan isn’t the only one joining the roster; later, four more characters will be added. Rose the fortune teller will be added to Street Fighter V in Spring 2021. Over the summer, martial arts master Oro and Rival Schools character Akira will also join the roster. Capcom is keeping the final character under wraps, but they will join the roster in the fall.
Street Fighter V Season 5 will feature two passes: Character and Premium. According to the release, the Character Pass includes:
- All five Season 5 Characters and Costume Colors 3-10
- Five Battle Costumes (one for each Season 5 Character)
- Six Titles
- Bonus Content: Eleven (a mimic character)
- Exclusive PS4 Themes and Steam wallpapers
Meanwhile, the Premium pass includes:
- All five Season 5 Characters and Costume Colors 3-10
- 26 NEW Costumes
- Two NEW Stages
- All costume colors for all Season 5 characters
- Eight Titles
- Bonus Content: Eleven
- 100,000 Fight Money
- Exclusive PS4 Themes and Steam wallpapers

Street Fighter V gets free content
In addition to Dan, all Street Fighter V players will receive a free update today with new content. A new training stage called “The Grid Alternative” is now available, plus “an updated battle balance” for Street Fighter V‘s combat system. Perhaps the biggest change is the new “V-Shift” mechanic, which “allows players to execute a fully invincible backdash that slows down time for a short period” to aid in planning counter attacks. The V-Shift battle mechanic costs one bar of V-Gauge.
