Shiva caps off Streets of Rage 4 – Mr. X Nightmare DLC

(Mr.) X gon' give it to ya.

Streets of Rage 4 was one of the best surprise hits of last year. After being dormant for two decades, the teams at Dotemu, Lizardcube, and Guard Crush brought the series roaring back to life. Combining a fluid 2D artstyle, tight controls, and an open-ended combat system, the game made it seem like the franchise never left at all. Today, we got a trailer for the game’s final playable character in the Streets of Rage 4 – Mr. X Nightmare DLC, Shiva, who is rounding off the cast.

After the game’s release, Dotemu made it known that DLC would be on the way. But then the pandemic happened, and there was some concern it would be delayed. However, last month we finally got an announcement of what that the new content will contain. Titled Mr. X Nightmare, the DLC adds new modes, weapons, and three new characters to the fray. The first of which was the new fan-favorite character from Streets of Rage 4, the badass cop Estel.

The nightmare approaches

Then we learned that longtime character Max, who appeared in Streets of Rage 4 as a boss, would also be returning. Today, we finally learned the identity of the silhouette with the wild hair. Shiva is another longtime Streets of Rage character who has been around since the early days. Like Max and Estel, Shiva was also a boss in Streets of Rage 4, using his ninja fighting techniques to clean up the streets of Wood Oak City. Once the right-hand man of the series’ main antagonist, Mr. X, Shiva has realized the error of his ways. Now, he fights with Axel and his crew to combat the crime he helped let flourish.

There is currently no release date for Streets of Rage 4 – Mr. X Nightmare, but we will be sure to let you know when that changes. You can wishlist the DLC right now on Steam.
