Suikoden Spirtual Successor Eiyuden Chronicles Hits Funding Goal In Two Hours (1)

Earlier this week saw plenty of JRPG fans celebrate, as a potential spiritual successor to one of the best JRPGs of all time, Suikoden, was announced to be in the works. With core members of the development team coming back together, a Kickstarter for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was prepping for launch to recapture some of that magic. In fact, the positive reception was so great that Kickstarter went down shortly after the crowdfunding campaign went live. Whether those two incidents are related remains to be seen, but the enthusiasm is clear to see.

Too hot to handle

Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes’ Kickstarter went live at 12 PM ET yesterday, July 27. Within two hours, it reached its goal of ¥54,000,000 (around $500,000). With this first goal, the team over at Rabbit & Bear Studios will bring the game to PC. Not only that, but the funding has also surpassed several stretch goals. This includes the Fortress Town mode, where you can come together to make the best town there is ala Suikoden 2. 

Console versions of the game have additionally been made possible via stretch goals. Perhaps more importantly, the cooking mini-game stretch goal was also reached. The sweet nostalgia of yesteryear can be felt by fans all over the world.

Further funding will unlock New Game Plus, new sound effects, language localization, as while as an obscured mystery goal for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes:

  • New Game Plus – A harder difficulty for hardened veterans! Use the team members you have collected in your previous play-through and start the game with them.
  • Adjusted Sound Effects – Ever want to hear a cat meow instead of a sword swipe? Now you can! A wide variety of fun and crazy sound effects!
  • Chinese Language – We will be providing the game in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese but by clearing this goal, we can support our Chinese gamers by providing the game in their language too!

As for a release date, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is targeting an October 2022 release. That is, if the development goes as planned. Considering the situation the world finds itself in currently, be prepared for changes along the way.
