Sundered: Eldritch Edition free on Epic Games Store

Epic Games Store hasn’t disappointed when it comes to the variety of free games it offers customers. And this week is no exception, as there’s a stirring new entry in the Metroidvania genre they won’t want to miss. Thunder Lotus Games’ Sundered: Eldritch Edition is now available for download through the store, from now through January 16. During that time, users can simply add it to their cart, check out, and then download to their heart’s content.

What is Sundered: Eldritch Edition?

The trailer below can give you an idea of what the game is about, but here’s its general synopsis.

In the game, you portray Eshe, a wanderer who finds himself in a ruined world. Monsters are running about everywhere, both big and small, in the ever-changing caverns. You’ll need to harness the power of corrupted relics in order to take down gigantic bosses. You may lose a bit of your humanity in the process, but you can either choose to resist or embrace.

Along with the core game, Sundered: Eldritch Edition‘s contents are also included with the download. These include the ability to play in co-op with three other players. You’ll also find new areas to explore and a deadly Magnate of the Gong boss who won’t be so easy to take down.

But perhaps the most noticeable thing of all is the beautiful, hand-drawn animation. The world itself looks absolutely stunning, and you can see the inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

Again, the game is completely free to download for the next few days, provided you have an Epic Games account. Once January 16 rolls around, however, a new game will be offered — the indie platformer Horace. You can learn more about that upcoming release on its Epic Games Store page. It wouldn’t hurt to bookmark it as well.

Hurry up and get Sundered: Eldritch Edition, because it’s a blast.
