Super Bomberman R 2 Release Date Announcement Trailer

Super Bomberman R 2 release date confirmed for next year

Blasting onto the scene.

Super Bomberman R 2 has been announced and given an official release date by Konami. The sequel to Super Bomberman R, released in 2017, is coming out sometime next year on Steam. A more specific release date has not yet been provided, but can be expected closer to launch. Konami has also held off on announcing Super Bomberman R 2’s launch price. However, the first game was $39.99 USD at launch, so a price point around that mark seems likely.

Alongside the game’s announcement, Konami also dropped a new trailer. The footage shows off some of the game’s new features, as well as providing some insight as to how it will play. Unsurprisingly, the gameplay looks very similar to that of the original, but with some notable differences.

Super Bomberman R 2 introduces a new battle mode, called Castle. During Castle, you build your own defenses to slow down and defend your castle from the incoming attackers. Another feature announced alongside Super Bomberman R 2‘s release windows of 2023 is its enhanced story mode. Story Mode will feature four new key mechanics: base building, boss battles, defense, and exploration. These should add some variety to keep things as exciting as possible.

No waiting around

Speaking of Story Mode, the narrative itself continues the story of the eight Bomberman Bros. Another threat has arisen, and the universe’s fate is in your hands. The eight brothers, plus their new friend Ellon, are tasked with taking down the threat and saving the day once again.

The first Super Bomberman R was originally released as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. It was ported over to other consoles and PC more than a year after its initial Switch launch. Thankfully, that isn’t the case this time. Super Bomberman R 2 will launch on all platforms simultaneously, PC included. So you won’t have to wait around to try it out this time.
