Super Hexagon dev has his own video flagged by YouTube

0

Terry Cavanagh, developer of VVVVVV and Super Hexagon, is one of the latest people to fall afoul of YouTube’s new ‘content ID’ system. Earlier today, Cavanagh was surprised to find that a (non-monetised) trailer for VVVVVV, a game created by him, had been flagged for copyright.

Mysterious!

This was apparently some sort of automated claim by INDMUSIC, whose own twitter feed is mostly full of them replying to people with things along the lines of “oh god, please dispute these claims we’re trying to work this out” and directing people to email addresses for further guidance and help.

So, YouTube’s amazing new system had managed to trigger a copyright flag that the apparent copyright ‘claimant’ didn’t want and the flagged video didn’t deserve. Everything working as intended over there, then.
