The Witcher 3 will have no platform exclusive content

Despite being released on various platforms including the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the game will feature “no exclusive content for any platform” so said its developers CD Projekt RED.

CD Projekt RED Co-founder, Marcin Iwinsk, told Eurogamer: “We are treating all gamers equally. We’ll not deliver exclusive content to any of the platforms, nor will we artificially delay release of the game on any of the platforms because somebody’s paying us money for that. It’s definitely against our values. We are not doing that.”

CD Projekt RED Are Focusing On “Expanding rather than slimming” The Witcher 3

When a game becomes successful it’s not uncommon for the following games to become more streamlined than its predecessors as the developers try to expand the target audience. Sometimes this can be a good thing but often the games lose sight of their original plan and end up pale imitations of their developers vision.

The good news is that CD Projekt RED are aware of this and are going out of their way to ensure that The Witcher 3 is bigger and better than the two that came before it. In an interview with GameOn, Gameplay Designer Andrzej Kwiatkowski was asked where the fat might be trimmed off from The Witcher franchise. He answered: “We’re totally focused on expanding everything rather than slimming things down,”

According to CD Projekt Red CEO Marcin Iwinski, The Witcher 3 will make use of almost all the power of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Iwinski told IGN: “There is a lot of power in these machines, and I don’t want to say we’re using them to their capacity, but we’re fairly close to doing so,”
