Team Fortress 2 Mystery Sounds Already In Use, Not New Mode

Valve’s Robin Walker has stated that the mystery sound files spotted in Team Fortress 2 are already in use and are not part of a new game mode.
Yesterday, we reported on Announcer sound files buried team in the latest Team Fortress 2 patch, which seem to indicate “Friendships”. Valve’s Robin Walker has now stated that the files are already used in-game in a “meaningful” way.”So far, we haven’t seen anyone on the various forums out there who’s figured it out,” Walker told Shacknews, adding that “there’s something about the way they’re used in-game that’s meaningful.”On the other hand, Walker told Kotaku that there’s “something new coming, but it’s not a new game mode,” and mentioned that “The key to understanding the new sound files is to figure out who’s hearing them in-game, and who isn’t.”Which doesn’t really make things much clearer. What do you reckon, readers? Anti-cheating stuff? Or could it be something to do with your Steam Friends list? If anything, I’d guess the latter, but that seems kind of obvious and Walker has said that no-one’s figured it out yet. Hmm.
