Techland expected Dead Island ban in Germany

Zombie apocalypse RPG Dead Island has been banned from sale in Germany. However, developer Techland and publisher Deep Silver were both well aware of such a possibility.
“This isn’t unexpected,” Techland told Eurogamer. “Germany has its unique regulations regarding video games and violence and the industry can only comply.
“Both Deep Silver and Techland were aware of such a possibility from the very beginning.”
Germany’s Federal Department of Media Harmful to Young Persons (commonly known as the BPJM) has put Dead Island on ‘List B’, a classification that deems it’s seen to contain “youth-endangering media”. List B media is usually made up of those that house Nazi content and/or scenes of extreme torture.
List B items cannot be sold anywhere in Germany and those proven to be doing so will be prosecuted. It also means that importers such as Play.com and Amazon.de are at risk of having stock seized by German customs if they attempt to ship it to the country.
There has been no explanation as to why Dead Island has been banned, a common practice in Germany.
