The Expanse: A Telltale Series gets an exclusive first-look trailer

Space politics.

Telltale Games’ story-based adventures are coming back, and the latest title from this rebirthed studio will be an adaptation of the sci-fi series The Expanse. We got to see a new look at The Expanse: A Telltale Series in a gameplay trailer shown during this year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live. Not only does it give players a detailed look at the game, it also provides some insight from the developers and actress Cara Gee.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series will take place before the Amazon series, essentially serving as a prequel. While the game was announced at The Game Awards last year, this is the first extended look we’ve seen of the game, with the trailer showing pre-alpha footage. You’ll play as Camina Drummer, one of the main characters from the show. Fans of the show may recognize her voice, as Cara Gee is reprising her role as the character. Like any good Telltale game, you’ll navigate the life of Drummer as she makes some tough and emotional choices.

Telltale and The Expanse

The original series takes place in a future where the Solar System has been colonized. The protagonists must navigate this universe as they examine a conspiracy that explores the system’s Cold War. Meanwhile, the game’s description reads: “In the near future on the outskirts of the asteroid belt, a bloody mutiny breaks loose on the Artemis. You take the role of XO Camina Drummer, where your choices determine the fate of the ship.”

The Expanse: A Telltale Series doesn’t have a solid release date yet. However, the gameplay trailer gave us a release window of Summer 2023. Be sure to check back for more information about this new game. And if you haven’t already yet, you can watch the gameplay trailer below to get a look at The Expanse: A Telltale Series.
