We’re at a good time for more story content in The Outer Worlds. The game has been out since last October, and most players have likely finished scouring the galaxy and defeated (or joined) the greedy mega corporations. Now, the game is getting a brand new chapter with Peril on Gorgon. It all involves an asteroid, enigmatic science experiments, monsters, marauders, and more.

Of course, it’s not just more Outer Worlds (which is hardly a bad thing). The expansion will include additional goodies for you to discover. The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon includes the new area to explore, more science weapons, and extra character customization—including an increased level cap, more armor sets, and additional variants to available gear.

The Gorgon Asteroid: come for the science, stay for the violence

The story of The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon begins with a mysterious message sent to your crew on the Unreliable. You’re beckoned to visit the Gorgon Asteroid, where weird scientific experiments once occurred. On the asteroid exists a colony to visit, where you’ll speak with a “wealthy recluse” who gets you up to speed on all the scientific horrors that happened on the spinning rock she calls home.

Among the additions coming with the DLC are new ways to play the game. Namely, you will soon be the proud owner of the P.E.T. (Pest Extermination Tool). With the melee weapon in hand, you can you can drawn in enemies for an up close and personal encounter. So, it’s like a grapple in a way. The P.E.T. is one of three new science weapons to discover.

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon is heading to PC on September 9. It’ll be the first of two expansions coming to the game.
