The Secret World social network promotion launches

Funcom are the latest developer to embrace social networking by launching their Secret War promotion for their upcoming MMO The Secret World.
In an effort to help spread the word, fans are being asked to take part in a “browser-based online social experience” which has been inspired by the secret societies that feature in the game.
Players will join one of the three secret societies and will be tasked to recruit agents to join their society accross the globe, in other words,  use your Facebook friends list to increase each society’s influence in different regions.
As your increase your society through Facebook, rewards will unlock such as clothes, weapons, elixirs and more, which can be used when the game launches. You may even get access to the upcoming Beta weekends or win a trip to Montreal to meet the developers. As a final bonus you may even get your name “embedded into the game at launch”.
“One of the most interesting features of ‘The Secret World’ is the three profoundly different secret societies that players can join,” says Funcom SVP of Sales & Marketing Morten Larssen. “Since we first announced the game we have gradually revealed more details about them, and what we have seen is that hundreds of thousands of gamers in our community have come to identify with them and form a loyal bond to other community members belonging to the same society. With ‘The Secret War’ experience we are excited about the prospect of allowing for even more community interaction and engagement.”
